Bangkok claim four gold



Bangkok, bidding to retain their title, got off to a fine start in the 37th National Games in Phitsanulok by claiming four gold medals to lead the medal standings.

Bangkok captured the first gold in the Games yesterday when their women's regu thrashed Roi Et 2-0 in the thrilling final clash, while Nakhon Ratchasima tamed Uttaradit 2-0 to clinch the men's title. Bangkok also took two golds in taekwondo and one in judo

Meanwhile, weightlifter Pensiri Saelao (Laosirikul) from Nakhon Si Thammarat swept three gold medals in the women's 48kg event, lifting 82kg in snatch and 106kg in the jerk for an aggregate 188kg.

Promising mountain-biker Sitthichai Ketkaewmanee handed Prachin Buri its first gold yesterday when he clocked the fastest time of 2.45.97 minutes in the men's 1.5-3.5km downhill event.
