No coup leaders appointed to Abhisit government: Suthep

Democrat Party secretary general Suthep Thuagsuban on Tuesday dismissed the speculation that the Democrats will allocate the Cabinet seats to former leaders of the September 19, 2006 coup.

"The Democrat Party has no ties with the Council for National Security as alleged by opponents," Suthep said, denying that junta leaders might join the Democrat-led coalition.

He said the Abhisit government is expected to have a comfortable majority to ensure stability with about 35 votes more than the opposition's.

He said coalition partners will nominate ministerial candidates under their quotas while the Democrats are responsible for filling about 15 Cabinet seats.

The allocation of Cabinet seats is expected to complete within this week.
