Key faction leaders like Pichet Tancharoen, Preecha Laohapongchana and Pinij Jarusombat were on hand to welcome the Democrats, who had called on him at his home on Vibhavadi-Rangsit Soi 60.
Pracha hosted a luncheon in honour of his guests and prospective partners.
Following the sumptuous meal catered by a five-star hotel, Pracha said he would support a prime minister who can guide the country to prosperity.
He wants to see the resumption of political normalcy and an end to divisiveness.
He would have to consult with his party before finalising the decision on whether to join the Democrat-led coalition.
It remains unclear when the House would convene to elect the PM, he said. If the vote was scheduled for Monday, the party will hold an executive meeting to firm up its stance on Saturday or Sunday.
His noncommittal approach to the Democrats is seen as a delaying tactic to hear a counteroffer from the Pheu Thai Party.
Acting as the Pheu Thai envoy, Pracharaj Party leader Snoh Thienthong has been pitching for all parties to form a national government under a prime minister who is not from the Democrat or Pheu Thai party.
Earlier, Pracha had dismissed speculation that he might lead the national government. He has also insisted that the party with the House majority should have the first chance at forming the government.
Should Pheu Thai fail to solicit sufficient votes, the Democrat Party will then have the mandate to launch its coalition drive, he said.
