Air force chief warned to zip his mouth

Pheu Thai Party criticised as improper comments of Air Force chief who said that the two previous governments led by the now-defunct People Power Party had failed to properly administered over the country.

Pheu Thai MP Surapong Tohwijakchaikul said ACM Itthiporn Supawong is just a C-10 officer who should have be more ready to protect the country than came out to criticise the previous government.

Ittiporn said Tuesday it might be good for a new coalition to emerge now and help push the country forward.

"Since the 2006 Constitution takes effect two elected governments have come to power but both failed to overcome the political predicament," Ittiporn said.

The Air Force chief also urged political parties to put the country before their partisan interests, reminding all sides that the Kingdom had plunged so deep in a crisis that its governments had no achievements to boast of.

Surapong said that it is Itthiporn's rights to express his opinion but as a government official, he should not get involved in politics.

"I recommend that ACM Itthiporn should zip his month as his comments hurt people's feelings. Why don't he stage a coup d'etat right away. What he said sounded good but clearly showed that he is not neutral," Surapong said.

Surapong's comments came as Democrat Party is forming a new coalition government after Constitution Court dissolved PPP and two other smaller parties last week.

The new government, which will have Abhisit Vejjajiva as prime minister, would not include Pheu Thai party.
