Value of BOI investment applications drop 25%

The value of investment applications in the first 11 months of this year reached Bt436 billion, 25 per cent down from Bt586 billion last year, according to the Board of Investment.

Damri Sukhotanang, permanent secretary for Industry, said the number of investment projects however increased 2.8 per cent on year.

He attributed the drop to the lower applications from petrochemical and auto companies.

On Monday, the BoI approved tax incentives to 10 projects with combined value of Bt56.3 billion, including Siam Toyota Industrial Co Ltd's diesel engine production project worth Bt8.2 billion. Included are Thai Airways International and Thai AirAsia's projects to lease new aircraft. IRPC also won the incentives for its Bt3.3 billion capacity expansion project and Glow Energy Plc for its Bt16.9 billion power plant. Petro Green Co Ltd received the incentives for its Bt998 million ethanol plant and Thai Carbon Black Plc for its Bt1.1 billion expansion project.
