Proving a point

Itthipat Kulapongvanich, the 23-year-old chief executive officer of Taokaenoi Food and Marketing is getting more famous as Siam Commercial Bank and Sasin have chosen his firm as among the winners of their Bai Pho Business Awards this year. 

Many people may remember that Itthipat could not get any bank loan to finance the construction of his fried-seaweed factory when he began the business at the age of 19, despite having orders from 7-Eleven.

Good 'Work'

Although Workpoint Entertain-ment (WORK) has seen its profit halving so far this year, CEO Phanya Nirunkul has something else to cheer about. WORK was picked as "Thailand's Most Innovative Company" by Chulalongkorn Business School (CBS) last Wednesday. It is the first time that CBS has organised such awards. Moreover, six TV shows produced by WORK have edged out contenders from many other Asian producers for the Asia Television Awards nominations.

In his speech at the CBS awards event, Phanya joked that though it is still not known whether WORK would win the Asian awards, he would at least be able to attend the ceremony on December 11 as Suvarnabhumi Airport has now reopened. 

Preparing for the crisis

Sarun Chantapalaboon of 37.5 Degree Celsius is organising free seminars: on how to prepare a training plan during the 2009 crisis year - on December 12, and preparing a creative action plan to fight the crisis - on December 16.
