Bomb attack in Narathiwat kills five, injures 12

Daily violence in deep south province of Narathiwat continue on Friday when a bomb went off at a grocery shop, killing five people and injured many others.



Daily violence in deep south province of Narathiwat continue on Friday when a bomb went off at a grocery shop, killing five people and injured many others.

Suspected insurgents lured police to the scene by assaulting Wilawan Satikorakul, owner of a grocery shop in the province's Chanae district.

After being alerted of the assaulting, police rushed to the scene only to find that Wilawan was already brought to a hospital nearby.

As police and villagers were standing at the grocery shop, a bomb exploded, killing five at the scene and injured a total of 12. All five killed were local villagers living nearby while ten of 12 injured were police.

Initial police investigation that the explosive was hidden near a plastic vegetable bucket and the insurgents may hide near the shop and triggered the explosive after seeing police and villagers gathering at the scene.
