AOT Acting President Serirat Prasutanond said on Tuesday that despite the losses, AOT's tougher responsibility is to send stranded tourists/travellers home.
He said that the city terminal at Bitec accommodated 1,300 passengers on the first day of service, when passengers of 17 flights checked in at the terminal for boarding at UTapao Airport. Today, he is informed that there will be 27 flights provided by several airlines such as Thai Airways International, Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, China Southern, Druk Air and EVA Air.
AOT last night also transferred more Xray machines to UTapao to facilitate the operations.
Until 5.11pm of Monday, airlines have retrieved 45 aircraft from Suvarnabhumi Airport. They could not work at night as protesters took control of the control tower, Serirat said.
