PM urged to quit, form new government before PPP dissolution

Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat was on Tuesday urged by his supporter to resign before the People Power Party is dissolved to pave for the setting up of a new government.

Chaturon Chaisang, a former Thai Rak Thai Party leader made a flesh plea saying he believed the Constitution Court would rule to dissove the PPP on Tuesday, and Somchai, party leader would be disqualified and banned from contesting in the election for five years following the ruling.

If Somchai forms a new government before the party is dissolved, it will be easier to muster control on MPs and gather strength of a new party. "Under a new party, the party executive board members do not need to be important people,'' Chaturon said.
