Police said the body of Adinan Che-sameh, 27, was riddled with bullet in what was believed to be part of an ongoing violence in the Muslim majority region where more than 3,200 people, mostly Malay Muslims, have died been killed January 2004 in connection to the ongoing insurgency.
The government blamed most, if not all, of the violent attacks in the region on a new generation of Malay separatists bent on carving out a separate homeland for the Muslims in the region.
Local alay Muslims, on the other hand, accused the authorities of carrying out abduction and target killings.
