A Thai businessman found himself stranded in the United Arab Emirates after the mass protest against Thai government in his homeland forced the closure of Suvarnabhumi Airport.

With urgent tasks to attend, he just could not wait till the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) supporters walk out of the Thai airport.

"So, I decided to fly to Singapore," the businessman said on condition of anonymity, "That meant he had to buy a new air ticket".

The closure of Suvarnabhumi Airport prompted him to pay more than Bt100,000 for the new air ticket and accommodation in Singapore.

"Now, I am going to fly from Singapore to Chiang Mai. After that, I can use a car," he said.
