SET drops on gloomy outlook



The Stock Exchange of Thailand suffered from gloomy political and economic outlook, with its main index losing 11.39 points or 2.87 per cent on Monday.

 The SET Index closed at 386.12 points on turnover of Bt6.7 billion.

 A number of 230 stocks ended lower on Monday, against 60 gainers.

 Suffering the most were PTT Plc, of which share price fell further by 2.84 per cent to Bt137.

 UOB Kayhian expected the market to witness a roller coaster ride this week due to heightened political conflicts. It expects the Thai baht to weaken against US dollar. The US is due to release data on consumer confidence, home sales, and other economic figures this week. Oil prices have been declining as recession is hitting Europe.
