FTI concerns over delayed ratification

Federation of Thai Industries Chairman Santi Vilassakdanont on Monday said that Thailand's interests would be affected by the seige of Parliament, which bars Members of Parliament to ratify the Asean commitments.

"Without the ratification, Thailand can't benefit from the commitments," he said. He urged the government to find ways to seek parliamentary approval before the Asean Summit takes place in December.

Under the Constitution, the government needs parliamentary approvals before signing any international agreements.

Anti-government protesters on Monday blocked Parliament and Finance Ministry's building, in their bid to oust the government.
