
In his column, Lom said these measures would stimulate the economy and help solve the current economic slowdown.

Though the price of oil has plunged recently, the prices of commodities are also declining, which in turn is affecting the livelihood of Thai farmers.
For instance, the demand for alternative-energy crops has suffered badly, which has hurt the agriculture industry badly. In addition to all that, Thai workers are facing the threat of massive layoffs.
Khao Sod said that Thailand, one of the biggest agriculture- and tourism-based economies, should be able to sustain itself.
However, the survival of the economy depends mainly on effective management, with cooperation from both the public and private sectors, as well as the people.
Khao Sod said the government, as an engine to push the economy, should set guidelines and lay down clear policies.
Besides, it should also reassess itself and see if it has been effectively performing its duty in response to the circumstances.
Thailand should not hope for its luck to magically change during the crisis, the paper warned.
Matichon also called for the government to have its advisory team come up with a prescription to rid the country of its current economic problems. The paper said next year the economy would suffer even more because it would be further infected by the state of the United States.
The daily said that though the prime minister and his Cabinet were under strong political pressure, they couldn't deny their responsibility to keep the economy healthy.
And in order to do this it came up with two suggestions: First, the ministers should not fight among themselves, and second, all measures should be promptly executed.
