Camera maker Nikon (Thailand) yesterday cut 2,000 staff at its Ayutthaya factory.
Company labour union president Thongchai Sitthidej said the retrenched employees all have worked less than a year with the company. He said executives had told him falling export sales had forced the staff cuts. Pioneer's car audio growth hit
Pioneer Electronics (Thailand) is reducing car audio production in Ayutthaya because of the slowing automobile industry.
Managing director Satoru Kurozaki said yesterday the company has been affected by falling vehicle sales , the main income source for the car audio's Ayutthaya plant. He said home appliances had been affected too, despite the launch of new product. The company revised down its sales revenue growth for the current fiscal year, ending March 31, to 5 per cent from 10 per cent.- The Nation
