SET in the City kicks off today

Investors worrying about the global financial turbulence might find a quantum of solace from the intensive minilessons proffered at the stock analyst fair to be held in conjunction with the fourday SET in the City 2008.

"Amid the current economic downturn, those who seek solutions for their money in savings or investments in order to maintain their money's value and generate satisfactory returns should seek advice from experts at the SET in the City. This is to prevent unwise decisions," Patareeya Benjapholchai, president of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, said yesterday.

The event kicks off today at Siam Paragon with stock analysts and experts providing investors with "marathon" seminars on four stages covering over 100 topics during the entire run.

More than 100 experts, analysts and financial gurus will offer informative recommendations on savings and investment with various techniques, strategies and investment channels via equities, fixedincome instruments and derivative products.

The "stock analyst fair 2008" will be held today from 3pm to 7.30pm with three seminars on

"The New World crisis: whether the Thai economy and stocks will survive", "Volatile BigCap groups analysis (energy, petrochemical, and shipping)" and "Thai financial institutions amid the world financial crisis".

Investors can buy stock research books from the Stock Analysts Association for Bt119 each.

The seminars will be presented on the seminar, investment, mutual fund and opportunity stages.

Today, Finance Minister Suchart Thadathamrongvech delivers a keynote speech and visits each booth at the fair.

Tomorrow, Deputy Prime Minister Olarn Chaipravat will grant awards for dominant listed companies, securities houses, assetmanagement firms and management.
