The royal relic urn and ashes were transferred to the Grand Palace by an 822-soldier procession joined by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The urn is waiting for enshrinement at Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall this week.
The process marked the end of the main cremation ceremony, attended by
Their Majesties and other royals.
The cremation yesterday was followed by two hours of traditional entertainment, performed before their Majesties, who left Phra Meru at 1pm.
Earlier in the morning, thousands of worshippers gave alms to monks at Sanam Luang to mark the end of the royal cremation.
Local newspapers, running colour photos of the rites
on their front pages, were selling well as Thais sought to keep mementoes of the ceremony.
Devoted crowds assembled at city halls across the country to witness the burning of paper flowers presented by the locals in memory of the beloved princess.
