More than 500 IT firms paraded a smorgasbord of their products at the consumer electronics product show, which runs to Sunday.
Pathom Indarodom, general manager of fair organiser AR Information and Publication, expects 1 million visitors to spend Bt3 billion at the event, including for an estimated 40,000 notebook and netbook computers.
He said the success or failure of the event could indicate the growth prospects for the IT consumer product market next year.
One highlight is that nine PC makers have lined up the mini-netbook computers to woo those looking for easy-to-carry devices. Many of them have teamed up with cellular operators and personal loan providers to offer bundled IT product packages.
"It's a kind of mixed marketing, which reflects the adjustment of the IT vendors to this time of a declining economy," Pathom added.
