NCCC to rule on Apirak case tomorrow
Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin said on Monday he would decide his political future after the National Counter Corruption Commission ruled tomorrow whether there were grounds to believe he was involved in the corruption scandal over the purchase of the fire-fighting trucks.
He said he would respect the NCCC decision no matter what it turned out to be as he believed in the justice system.
Lat Krabang Municipal Councillor Visoot Samretwanit urged Apirak including his deputies to step down to show political spirit if the NCCC ruled that he was involved in the corruption scandal.
Meanwhile Apirak said he would check the legality of the petition filed against him to the NCCC by a lawyer team of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, accusing him of breaking Article 157 of the Criminal Law on grounds of dereliction of duty for not taking action against the People's Alliance for Democracy for seizing the Government House and blocking traffic on Rajadamnoen Rd.
He said the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration needed cooperation from other government agencies to carry out duties.
