Law Society of Thailand condemns Thaksin's phone-in

The Law Society of Thailand on Friday issued a statement condemning the November 1 phone-in by former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Thaksin's remarks can be construed as contempt of his guilty verdict and insulting to the judiciary, society president Det-utom Krairit said.

Det-udom warned that media outlets should refrain from regurgitating the remarks or risk facing the charge for contempt as accomplices.

Although organisers of "Today Truth" talk show have insisted on broadcasting the phone-in segment in their nightly programme aired by state-run NBT Channel, they have yet to carry out their plans.
