Half-baked gov't efforts to forge reconciliation: Abac Poll

Almost half of Bangkok residents say the government is paying too little attention to forge reconciliation, Abac Poll said in its survey released on Friday.

The opinion poll was conducted on 2,487 respondents in the capital and surrounding areas.

On the full mark of 10, the government receives a failing score card of 4.4 points for its efforts to reconcile with the opposition movement led by the People's Alliance for Democracy.

In the wake of the October 7 violent crackdown, the supports for the PAD and the government both dropped sharply.

The PAD saw its popularity plunged from 47.7 per cent to 26.3 per cent. The government's popularity took a nosedive from 42.9 per cent to 29.6 per cent.

It is noteworthy that about 44 per cent say they are neutral and not siding with either the anti-government or the pro-government crowds.
