Roi Et Governor Pongsiri Kusum yesterday denied ordering local officials to stop wearing yellow in honour of His Majesty the King.
"Seeing that government officials rarely use their khaki uniforms, we instructed them to wear the official outfit on Monday," he said.
Since 2006, millions of Thais have donned yellow shirts on Mondays to show their loyalty for the much-revered monarch, who was born on the day associated with the colour yellow.
"On other days of the week, they can wear yellow or pink. They can wear any polite attire," Pongsiri added.
