Democrats support additional deficit

Democrat Party Leader Abhisit Vejjajiva voiced his support to the government's decision to increase the 2009 budget deficit by Bt100 billion, citing that the combined deficit of about Bt300 billion is reasonable and sufficient to boost the economy to some extent.

He noted that the government should ensure that with the additional investment, it increases the purchasing power and also create jobs particularly in the rural provinces.

He added that the government must weigh what projects are the most possible in economic terms.
