Somsak Chalachol is a man of details. That is what the public and his clients have realised throughout the long period since he launched his first hair salon in Soi Thonglor.
And when the business celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, he did not overlook any details. For the celebration, Somsak invested ample time to create a special product, a new "Chalachol" shampoo and conditioner.
Some may ask why a lot of time was required to invent a shampoo. Now that many villages are able to make their own shampoos, you would think a businessman like Somsak would not have been busy making shampoo.
But to those who have known Somsak for some time, they know that the man can't afford to let even a tiny detail slip out of his control.
Some still remember a few years ago when Somsak hosted a birthday party. He was on a crane, wearing a pink dress and posing for photographers. Last year, he hosted another birthday party under an "Ultimate Lanna" theme, where he was carried in a Lanna-styled litter. At another party guests were asked to show up with their fancy wigs.
And now that the shampoo is for clients, how could he afford to make an ordinary product?
I was told that Somsak himself selected the plant extracts, which are cotton honeydew (for hair protection), "soothex" (to relieve dryness and irritation), star fruit (for hair and scalp hydration) and coconut oil (for shine). He also instructed the laboratory to come up with a shampoo with gentle and soothing scent. And it took him almost a year to come up with the special formula.
Now the product is available at all Chalachol salons, at Bt285 for shampoo and Bt295 for conditioner.
And it's up to you if you want to promote his wealth, which is estimated at hundreds of millions of baht. Certainly, higher sales may inspire him to come up with more special things to spice up high society.
