US extends Thailand's GSP privileges



The US government has extended the generalised system of preferences (GSP) for more than 3,400 Thai products by another year to the end of 2009, the Foreign Trade Department said yesterday.

Apiradi Tantraporn, directorgeneral of the department, said conditions attached to the GSP would not be changed. Most of the 3,400 items enjoying the privileges are industrial items such as jewellery, rubber, electrical appliances and airconditioner parts.

Thailand was the thirdbiggest user of the importduty privileges in the first half of the year, after Angola and India. The privileges were worth US$1.16 billion (Bt40.6 billion) to the Kingdom in the period. - The Nation

State enterprises remit Bt4.8 billion

State enterprises remitted Bt4.8 billion to the Finance Ministry in October, the first month of the 2009 fiscal year.

According to the State Enterprise Policy Office, PTT alone is expected to remit Bt8.8 billion this year, as a dividend for the Finance Ministry's stake in the company.

State enterprises are expected to remit a total of Bt93 billion in the fiscal year. - The Nation

 

Townhouse projects from Plus Property

Sansiri subsidiary Plus Property plans to launch four to six townhouse projects worth up to Bt6.5 billion in the next year, having successfully transferred 12 residential projects worth Bt6.5 billion to customers since the beginning of this year's third quarter.

Chief executive officer Metha Chanchamcharat said the company had repaid Bt2.7 billion to creditors this year, which means it has sufficient funds to expand its investment next year. - The Nation

PB Air, Nok Air in codeshare deal

PB Air and Nok Air yesterday announced a codesharing agreement to expand their networks and to provide more convenience to customers in terms of reservations and payments.

PB Air operates six domestic routes and one international route, Bangkok-Danang, while Nok Air services five local destinations.

PB Air plans to resume the Bangkok-Chumphon route by the second quarter of next year, and to reduce the fuel surcharge from Bt850 to Bt750 per sector from next month.

Nok Air plans to resume its Bangkok-Phuket route next year. - The Nation

Thaicom launches iPSTAR in RP

Satellite operator Thaicom yesterday launched the iPSTAR broadband satellite service in the Philippines and inaugurated its IPSTAR broadband satellite gateway in Manila.

It also launched the retail iPSTAR broadband Internet package called IPSTAR BigSky for the Philippines market with local partner, We are IT, starting at US$49 (Bt1,712) per month. - The Nation
