Too soon to tell Obama's effects on Thailand

Barrack Obama's presidential victory would clear all uncertainties in the US, said Bank of Thailand Governor Tarisa Wattanagase.

However, she said it is too soon to comment if Obama's policies would benefit Thailand or affect the bilateral trade.

"We still need to wait till the US government is formed," she said.

Commerce Minister Chaiya Somsomsub is optimistic that the result would not hurt Thailand's trade, as Thai exporters have diversified to new markets. He is confident that export value would grow 15-20 per cent this year as expected, to touch US$174 and $182 billion.
