Construction of the Met condominium on Sathorn Road is on schedule despite Thailand's political prob¬lems and the global financial crisis.

"Seventyfive per cent of the units have been sold and our buyers want to move in as soon as possible" said Ray Yow, director of Pebble Bay (Thailand), the developer. "We expect to complete construction by the end of this year and start transferring units to owners in January."

The Met is located in the much soughtafter cen¬tral business district on a large freehold site of 7 rai and 40 square wah (1.13 hectares). The condominium's concept is "tropical highrise living", with a striking modern design that allows cross ventilation and panoramic views of Bangkok's skyline and the river. The project also provides high exclusivity, with each unit enjoying a private lift lobby. It has a full range of lux¬ury facilities on three levels, including a 50metre swimming pool and a sky terrace.

The 66storey condominium now stands at its fin¬ished height. Twentytwo highspeed elevators have been installed and the exterior aluminium cladding is completed.

CB Richard Ellis managing director Aliwassa Pathnadabutr said The Met had already become a new landmark on the Bangkok skyline. The real estate firm is sole sales agent.

"The design of the 66storey building is unique and the specifications of units and the common area are truly high quality.

"Although The Met was launched more than two years ago, we continue to receive inquiries from both Thai and overseas buyers. From now on, it will be quite hard to find developments in the CBD on a scale such as this," she said.

The Met offers twobedroom units of 92 square metres, threebedroom units of 196 square metres, fourbedroom units of 408 square metres and pent¬house units of 546 square metres.

"We are confident in the Thai property market and we are planning to invest here in the long term," Yow said. "The market may slow down in the short term but we believe it will recover soon.'
