A scene from the Prestige lounge
The large base of this customer group accounts for about 20 percent of the bank's total deposits. The Bank has established a target to increase its total deposits to Bt315 billion by the end of 2008, from Bt297 million at present.
Bundit Cheevadhanarak, senior executive vice president of Thanachart Bank, said that competition for deposit has been rising after the promulgation of the Deposit Insurance Act. As part of its policy which places emphasis on market segmentation by needs of each customer group, it has introduced Prestige private banking service.
The privileges to be offered include personal financial counselors, Prestige lounges at 10 of the bank's branches nationwide, and discount package deals from its business alliances participating in this programme. The lounges are located at the Tonson headquarters, Thong Lor Branch, Ratchada Branch, Wongsawang Branch, MBK Tower Sub Branch, Sukhumvit Soi 25 Branch, Tapae Branch in Chiangmai Province, Tawang Sub Branch in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Rayong Province Branch, and Phitsanulok Province Branch. At the lounge, the customers can execute their financial transactions, take a rest or use the Internet services. The bank has made available personal financial counselors who can provide the customers with investment advice on types of instruments which could generate good return and those which are suitable for each customer's needs.
The Prestige private banking service also includes discount package deals for the depositors who use services offered by the bank's alliances which, during the initial period, cover spas, golf courses, hotels and hospitals.
Bundit said that aside from proactive marketing strategies, the recent participation of Scotiabank in the management of the Bank's business operations not only helps streamline its treasury management but also helps its business generate higher return than the cost of deposits.
