Roads closed for funeral rehearsal

The Royal Thai Army yesterday announced the closure of certain roads to facilitate the rehearsal today of four processions for the late HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana's royal cremation.

The roads around Sanam Luang, Rajdamnoen Road and Sanam Chai were closed from midnight to accommodate the people gathering for the procession. The rehearsal would start from 7am until midday. Motorists were advised to avoid those routes at the time.

Meanwhile officials also diligently prepared the ceremonial ground at Sanam Luang to welcome HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn and HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn who would attend the rehearsal. This rehearsal will be the first time that the funeral urn of the late princess will be taken into the crematorium.

The crematorium has been nearly completed but the pattern decorations will be done close to cremation day to prevent damages from rain and sunshine. Eight gates around Sanam Luang will collect cremation flowers from the public. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will rehearse flower collection tomorrow at 2pm.
