Huge meth haul at Phitsanulok hospital

Amidst reports that over 40,000 tablets of metamphetamine of unknown origin were discovered buried beside the wall of a hospital in Pitsanulok province , the Public Health Ministry is now setting up a special committee to investigate the suspicious finding, a top health official said.

The Public Health Ministry's permanent secretary, Dr Prat Boonyawongvirot said he had ordered the provincial public health office's chief, Dr Vutthikrai Saksurakant to establish a special committee to investigate the suspicious discovery of a huge batch of metamphetamine at Prompiram Hospital.

Vutthikrai said it was reported that the hospital had hired Isanant Company to construct a water drain pipe around the staff's residence for a month.

On October 21, Songkran Munsorn, the builder, informed  the hospital's staff that he found the suspicious objects in a package at the waste water pipeline of the waste water treatment pond. After that, he asked the police to investigate the package and discovered it contained a huge batch of metamphetamine.

The metamphetamine tablets are now being kept at the Police station.
