Acer Introduces New Breed - eMachines Products

Acer Computer announced the availability of 'eMachine's, new family breed of desktop PC and notebook computers — offering value-priced and Western design.

The products are now available.  Acer targets to achieve consumer brand recognition by the end of this year.

Boonchai Ngouvisitkul, senior manager, Consumer System Product Group, Acer Computer, said the 'eMachines' is Acer's new family of desktop and notebook series that to be marketed for the first time in Thailand.  The 'eMachines' is commonly recognized in the US market. People who buy 'eMachine's are those who seriously consider efficiency, convenience, and price. The new line of desktop and notebook definitely answer the demand of Thai users who want to spend smartly on IT for work.  "This year we'll focus on building brand awareness and expect to grow next year with a 20 per cent share in the market," said Boonchai. "Acer will start the 'eMachines' series with two models: 'eMachines' PC EL1700 and Notebook eMD720, which both models are already available in the market."

The 'eMachines' EL1700 is a compact PC, superbly designed and size of only 8.5 litters. It's highly suitable for users with limited space. Comes with an Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200, 2.5 Ghz CPU; a 320 GB serial ATA hard disk, and 1 GB of RAM, the 'eMachines' are good choices for movies, music, 3D graphics, and multimedia work with DirectX10 technology in combination with an API graphics card to link software, hardware and reality-proven sound chipset. It also features video output to external devices such as TVs and projectors via an HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) jack. Prices start at Bt13,500 (plus 7% VAT) without a monitor.

The 'eMachines' eMD720 notebook has a strong American style design with a classic black case. It comes with a 14.1-inch, WXGA display that supports a high-brightness TFT screen with 1280-by-800 pixels. It weighs 2.4 kilograms and uses a 2.16 Ghz Intel Pentium Dual Core Mobile Processor T3400 with a 160 GB hard drive. The 'eMachines' eMD720 can be upgraded  up to 4 GB of RAM and Wi-Fi enabled, an Intel Graphic Media 4,500 M to support multimedia functions, built-in speakers and a Web cam. The eMD7200 price starts at Bt18,900 (plus 7% VAT), with a one-year warranty worth of Bt3,500. A free notebook case worth of Bt 3,000 is included.
