Selective cut in fuel charge

Thai Airways (THAI) has reduced fuel surcharge for all connecting flights from Thailand starting yesterday, aiming to boost advance bookings for the coming high season. The 15-per-cent cut in fuel surcharge rates are only for connecting flights from Thailand to third countries.

The carrier had already cut fuel surcharge for all routes early this month, following the decline in oil price.

It is also reducing ticket prices by 20-30 per cent for all outbound routes to lure more Thais to travel abroad during the coming high season.

Pridi Boonsue, vice presi-|dent for alliance and royalty, |said the measures would en-courage both Thais and inter-national travellers to make trips during the last quarter of this year.

He said the airline has 60 per cent advance bookings for the high season, mainly from the Asian market, lower than the |projected 80 per cent. "The airline is stimulating tourism in this year peak season by using these measures, said Pridi.
