Tata eco-car project stays on track

Indian auto-maker Tata Motors says it will proceed with its planned eco-car project in Thailand.

In a statement yesterday, local subsidiary Tata Motors (Thailand) said it was exploring the purchase of land with several industrial estates for its plant. The company is now working with the Board of Investment to finalise details of the project.

The statement was in reaction to a report that Tata Motors recently suspended plans to purchase an eco-car factory site at the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate, due to the global economic slowdown. - The Nation
