Bangkok wins Asean award

Bangkok received the "Clean and Green Land" award at the Asean Ministerial Meeting on the Environment in Vietnam, the permanent secretary for Natural Resources and Environment said yesterday.



The Thai capital was recognised for its sufficient resources to manage its environment, especially the green areas, and its environmental projects that continued and yielded good results, said Saksit Tridech.

The meeting, held from October 6 to 10 in Hanoi, also gave awards to Cambodia's Phnom Penh Municipality, Laos' Luang Prabang, Vietnam's Ha Long, Brunei's Temburong, Indonesia's Palembang, Burma's Taungyi and Malaysia's North Kuching City, he said.
