Constitution Court asked to ban PPP

The office in its petition also asked the court to revoke the voting rights of the party's 37 executive members for five years, as allowed under the Constitution if a party executive gets involved in or does not stop election fraud committed with his knowledge.

Chief prosecutor Seksan Bangsomboon said the was acting on the investigation report submitted by the Election Commission.

The case follows the Supreme Court's disqualification of the PPP's former deputy leader for graft in the December 23, 2007 general election.

Peeraphan Palusuk, a PPP MP from Yasothon, said the party's MPs would meet on Monday to discuss the issue as well as the overall political situation.
