DataOne Asia becomes CA's primary point

New go-to-market arrangement builds on confidence and trust built between CA and DataOne over nearly 11 years.

DataOne Asia becomes CA's primary point

CA announced finalization of an exclusive value-added distributorship agreement that positions DataOne Asia (Thailand), a leading provider of IT management and data center services, as primary point of sale in Thailand for CA's enterprise IT management software.

The move builds on an already productive working relationship that has existed between CA and DataOne for nearly 11 years and is part of a carefully-crafted go-to-market strategy that has been implemented in other parts of Southeast Asia, as well as Greater China and New Zealand.

Experience in some geographies has shown CA that in-country industry expert partners possess a wealth of knowledge, experience and cultural understanding that no outside organization could possibly match.

Wholly-owned by Thailand's SVOA Public Company Limited technology group, DataOne plays a leading role in developing Thailand's IT industry. With a reputation for being particularly strong in the financial services sector, DataOne will support other CA sales partner organizations that are strong in other markets, such as telecommunications, the public sector and manufacturing.

Market intelligence firm IDC recently ranked CA as Thailand's No.1 vendor in terms of IAM and system and network management software and forecast that the Thai market would spend more than US$4 billion on IT this year.

Customers in Thailand will continue to enjoy access to CA's considerable support capabilities via their IT management infrastructures, while a close working relationship will be maintained with DataOne in the day-to-day business of helping enterprises to govern, manage and secure their IT environments.

CA's corporate senior vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific & Japan, Gavin Selkirk, said: "With a vision to become Thailand's No.1 IT company, DataOne represents CA's ideal sales partner in Thailand and will play a significant role in our mission to revolutionize IT management for enterprises in this important market."

He added: "DataOne has already been working closely with our customer portfolio team on renewing mainframe and maintenance business with strategic accounts such as the Bangkok Bank, Thai Military Bank and Siam Commercial Bank, a development that serves as testimony to the confidence and trust built between us over nearly 11 years."

CA recently reported FY09 Q1 results that marked the company's seventh consecutive quarter of sound financial performance. Despite a gloomy economic backdrop, CA's revenue was up six percent to $1.087 billion, while total bookings grew 15 percent. GAAP earnings per share increased 54 percent to $0.37, non-GAAP operating earnings per share were up 38 percent to $0.40 and cash flow from operations increased to $54 million - representing CA's best first-quarter cash flow for three years.

Selkirk said: "These results demonstrate that CA's products are critical to the operations run by client organizations and that the Company enjoys increasingly stronger customer relationships."

Adisorn Keawbucha, CEO of DataOne Asia (Thailand) said "We are pleased to partner with CA.  This partnership allows us to deliver IT solutions and consulting services to help our customers manage their IT environment in enterprises efficiently.  We have professional team to provide world-class support to customers, including pre and post sales support by our technical experts.  We are planning closely with CA in terms of technical support and training for our team.  This will enable us to best serve our customers and help them achieve business requirements.  We believe our partnership with CA today will strengthen more confidence for our customers in using CA solutions and services".
