Yesterday, the International Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, which has more than 130 international organisation alliances worldwide, said it would send a letter to Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat calling for the government to end the political violation immediately.
ICC's president Kalin Sarasin said that as part of the society, the chamber want the government to end its use of aggressive action as it created both loss in lives, and destroy image of the country to the international acknowledgement.
Normally, the business association, which consists of the international business community here, side has tried to shy away from criticising the government. But the message from ICC was clear. Many questions have been raised, which the government must fully responsible for the problem," Kalin was quoted as saying.
Somchai might be glad that he could commence his duty as the prime minister after he instructed the police to clear the protesters to enable his government to get inside the House building. But the immediate task that he had to do first and that may not be written in the policy statement that he hastily wrapped up on Tuesday is how his government would provide the remedy measures to pull Thailand out of this political and economic crisis.
He might pride himself that he ascended to the premiership through the democratic system procedure. Now the leader of the democratic system should listen to the calls from the people. Somchai is a grown up person and, based on his credential, he does not seem to need advice on what he should do. Now, let's see how our leader would show his leadership to heal the damaged nation.
