Possible cut in bus fares as diesel falls

Land Transport Department Director-General Chairat Sanguansue said on Friday that the department would monitor diesel oil prices in the next two weeks, to decide whether bus fares should be cut.

He said that when diesel exceeded Bt29 a litre, the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority and the Transport Co Ltd were allowed to raise fares. If the fuel cost remains below Bt29 in the next two weeks, there would be a meeting to discuss a fare cut.
