The Cabinet on Thursday agreed to form two independent committees, one in charge of investigating the Tuesday's crowd control operations which turned violence and another for the rehabilitation of victims.

The committee in charge of investgation will be mandated to summon officials evidence in order to scrutinise the police action and determine culprits responsible for violence, Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat said.

The rehabilitation committee will look after every victim, be they police officers or protesters.

Somchai voiced optimism that the investigative report will shed light on how and why violence erupted in order to dispel lingering doubts on the issue.
