OLT Enterprise charged of illegal futures trading

The Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday raided OLT Enterprise Co Ltd and filed charges against the unauthorised futures trading on crude oil.

OLT's owners and some employees were working for Best Point Associate Ltd and Victor Corporation (Thailand) Ltd, which have been charged by the SEC for a similar violation of the securities laws. So far this year, four companies have faced charges of breaching the laws.

Wrongdoers are subject to maximum 3-year imprisonment or maximum fine of Bt300,000, or both. They could also be fined additionally Bt10,000 per day if proceeding with the activity after the charges were filed.

Any troubled investors can notify the SEC at Tel. 0-2263-6000 or e-mail to complain@sec.or.th or enforcement@aftc.or.th.

The SEC said that it has been tipped of such illegal trading in crude oil, gold and foreign exchanges. Generally, investors are convinced that the companies can operate the activity after establishment under the Commerce Ministry's regulations. However, they are required to obtain the trading license from the SEC.
