7 banks join loan syndication to Lao power plants

Seven Thai and foreign banks have signed a syndicated loan agreement, worth 187.5 million in US dollar and 13.94 billion in Thai baht, to a hydropower plant in Laos.

The syndication loan to Theun-Hinboun Power Co Ltd was signed on Wednesday by representatives of the institutions including the Export-Import Bank of Thailand, Kasikornbank and Belgium's KBC Bank.

The dual currency loan facility is earmarked to finance the Theun-Hinboun Hydropower Extension Project.
