Amata cuts land sales target amid turmoil

Industrialland developer Amata has cut its targeted land sales this year by 29 per cent, citing political unrest and the global financial turmoil.



The company expects to sell as lit¬tle as 1,200 rai of land in its industrial estates this year, compared with an earlier estimate of 1,700 rai, Amata senior vice president Viboon Kromadit said yesterday.

Potential clients "prefer to post¬pone their investment decisions", Viboon said. "The US financial crisis has already become global and Thailand's political uncertainty contin¬ues. Both have worsened foreign direct investment." - Bloomberg

New head of Glow

Glow Energy has welcomed Esa Heiskanen as director and CEO with immediate effect after Peter Termote resigned for personal reasons.

Heiskanen said the company remained focused on operational excellence and profitable growth in the independ¬entpowerproducer busi¬ness in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia and the cogeneration business here and throughout the region.

Heiskanen has more than 15 years' experience in the internationalpowergeneration business and working in Asia and has spent the past 12 years living in Thailand and working in the country's powergeneration business.

MD appointment

Danai Nanasombat has been appointed managing director of Thai Petroleum Pipeline.

Danai was previously supply manager for Thailand and Cambodia at Chevron (Thailand).

He has 20 years' experience in the oil industry. - The Nation
