PM's Secretary General Chusak Sirinin quoted Somchai as saying that it is police's duties to do their jobs to keep national security.
"Prime Minister told me that police have used soft approach to handle the protesters' situation," he said.
He said he talked in a telephone conversation with Somchai shortly after police used tear gas to break up protesters who blocked the Parliament.
The attempt seriously injured three and wounded at least 72 others.
Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat did not worry about police's using tear gas at anti-government protesters and the situation, Chusak Sirinin said.
Chusak was speaking before meeting Somchai at PM's residence on Chang Wattana Road.
What worried Somchai is that his government will not be able to have policy address in the parliament in time as stipulated in the government, Chusak said.
His government will have legal obstacles if it could not deliver policies before October 9. The Charter said a government has to deliver policy address in the Parliament 15 days after it takes the office.
