Police guard Songkhla and Phuket airports

Police forces in Songkhla and Phuket have guarded strategic locations in the provinces, particularly the City Halls and airports, for fear that supporters in the People's Alliance for Democracy's in the provinces would seize the premises.

Songkhla police chief Pol Gen Virun Iampaichit also said cooperation between state units has been sought to motinor public movements, as more provincial supporters could move to Bangkok or some places in the provinces.

"We have closely monitored the public movements as this could aggravate conflicts into a regional problem," he said.

Police officers were also dispatched to reinforce the security at the Phuket International Airport.

Phuket Deputy Governor Worapot Ratthasima is confident that there would be no violence in the province. He also referred to a talk with a PAD supporter when saying that protesters would not close the airport.

During the protest in September,  both airports were shut down.
