interior design of U Hotel Superior room
With an investment budget of Bt300 million to build 41 rooms, U Chiang Mai is Tanayong's first boutique hotel. Tanayong is one of property developers who had to suspend its investment after the economic crisis of 1997.
Tanayong managing director Kavin Kanjanapas said the design of U Chiang Mai is a mix between Lanna culture and Thai modern contemporary styling. The compaŽny has preserved the original buildŽing made from wood which stands in front of the hotel and has conŽverted it into the U Spa to give guests a feel of authentic Lanna culture.
Other buildings have been built around the original wood building but care has been taken to give them a low profile so as not to overŽwhelm the effect of the original building. The designer has tried to shape the interiors maintaining a feel of the Lanna culture by using dark wood and crafted woodwork to present original Lanna design as the main accessory in all of the 41 rooms.
U Chiang Mai general managŽer Yothin Uthaphu said the hotel is located close to the old town. Visitors can experience the old temple and cycle out to see other old buildings around the hotel.
