Police arrest PAD leader

A leader of People's Alliance for Democracy who has been issued an arrest warrant is arrested while driving on an expressway.

Police arrested Chaiwat Sinsuwongse at the toll fee on Rama VI while he was paying the fee. Police said Chaiwat just left residence of Democrat Party MP Kraisak Choonhavan in Soi Racha Kru.

Chaiwat is among nine PAD's leaders who were issued arrest warrants for five serious criminal charges, punishable or life imprisonment.

The warrants spelled out five serious criminal charges punishable by death or life imprisonment.

The nine suspects wanted by police are Sondhi Limthongkul, Chamlong Srimuang, Somsak Kosaisuk, Pipop Thongchai, Somkiart Pongpaiboon, Suriyasai Katasila, Chaiwat Sinsuwong, Amorn Amornratananont and Therdpoom Chaidee.

The four charges are Article 113 of the Criminal Code for treason, Article 114 for conspiracy for incite treason, Article 215 for conspiring with more than 10 people to cause disturbances or physical harms, Article 216 for resisting to disperse when ordered by law enforcement authorities.
