
In the morning, it tumbled 2.94 per cent in the morning session, trailing the slump in US and European shares on Monday after the Congress voted down the US$700 billion bailout plan. The Stock Exchange of Thailand Index lost 17.70 points to end the morning session at 583.59 points. Turnover was Bt11.96 billion.
The mid-day closing was the lowest since September 2003.
Dealers attributed the sell-off to foreign sales, as reflected through the higher volume than in the past days. Share prices could fall further in the afternoon session, with 565-570 points as the resistance level, they said.
