Government's major policies

The following are major policies to be announced by the Somchai Wongsawat government.



1 Encouraging social reconciliation and recovery of democracy

2 Addressing southern violence problem

3 Promoting good ties with neighbouring countries and solving border disputes through diplomatic means

4 Expediting investment in important infrastructure projects, such as mass rapid transit, dual-track railways and expansion of Suvarnabhumi airport

5 Restoring the confidence of investors and tourists

6 Improving regulations on transfers of capital and promoting Thai investment overseas

7 Relieving the impacts of inflation and high oil prices on consumers and business operators

8 Forming a Farmers Council and setting up a system that offers guarantees to farmers against risks

9 Providing rural communities easy access to capital, such as through the Village Fund and SML projects

10 Promoting extension of personal loans to people with low income and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

11 Improving the management efficiency of OTOP projects

12 Expediting the suppression of drugs and other vices, persecuting influential people and ensuring fair enforcement of laws

13 Expanding the irrigation areas and improving the efficiency of the irrigation system

14 Expediting projects aimed at coping with the global warming crisis
