Charoen bids for top Australian hotel



Thai billionaire Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi's TCC Land has bid for Sydney's glamorous A$250million (Bt7.1 billion) Four Points Hotel, owned by cashstrapped listed property trust GPT Group, the Australian Business reported yesterday.

The Four Points and Ayers Rock complex is included in the $800million hotel and tourism portfolio GPT has on the market. The company is selling $1.7 billion worth of assets, as it teeters dangerously close to breaching its agreed debt limits. - The Nation

Tax incentives

The Stock Exchange of Thailand's board yesterday extended the current corporate tax incentives for newly listed companies for another year.

Under the new rules, firms filing listing applications by this yearend will enjoy the lower corporate tax rates from next year to 2011.

Those listing on the main board will be subject to 25percent tax, down from the normal 30 per cent. Those opting for the Market for Alternative Investment will only be taxed at 20 per cent. - The Nation

NTC flat revenue

The National Telecommunications Commission expects revenue from fees, including licence and phone number charges, to remain at Bt3.8 billion next year.

After deducting administrative and other expenses, the watchdog transfers some Bt800 million to the treasury every year. - The Nation

True Visions boost

True Visions has realised secondquarter sales of Bt2.35 billion from its TrueVisions payTV operation, up 11.9 per cent on year and 4.1 per cent on quarter

Ongard Prapakamol, chief commercial officer, said yesterday that the company's "Convergence Lifestyles" strategy and TV channel expansion have led to a surge in new TrueVisions subscribers of 68,000 last quarter to a total of 1.18 million. - The Nation

Future Park shopping mall secondquarter sales were up 23 per cent despite the economic slowdown, oil hikes and political uncertainty.
