Domestic gold price could reach Bt14,600

The gold price is expected to shoot up to US$950 (Bt32,275) per ounce, taking the domestic price to Bt14,600 within the next few months, as a result of higher demand.

Kritcharat Hirunyasiri, deputy secretarygeneral of the Gold Traders Association, said the gold price was likely to improve continuously because of speculation and investment as people turned to buy the precious metal rather than the less stable US dollar. - The Nation

Milk crisis 'an opportunity for Thai firms'

Adirek Sripratak, president and CEO of Charoen Pokphand Foods, said China's milk crisis had undermined confidence in Chinese food products.

He believes this will benefit CPF and the Thai food industry, particŽularly through increasing orders from Japan, the US and Europe.

CPF is renowned for its food safety with internationally recognised verification programmes, including GMP, HACCP, ISO 9002, ISO 14001, TIS18001, ISO17025, HALAL and Animal Welfare, he added.

CPF expects its secondhalf performance to enable it to reach its annual revenue target of Bt150 billion and is confident of good results in the first half of 2009. - The Nation
